On the Monday 26th we spent another hour in the school court yard. We were mainly finishing of the ground outside ie taking all of the garden waste out of the ground, suitable for planting. But we did take a lot of the bushes out of the wholes.

On Friday the 13h we de-nailed lots of wood for making the shed, with hammers, crow bars and various tools for de-nailing, and got an idea of the size of shed we were working with.
Yesterday (20/4/10), we designed the garden shed we are going to make. We had to consider the materials, the size, the cost, if we needed to put a base on the ground for the shed to sit on and where we are going to place this shed. First we measured the area outside that we had to work with, then looked online at different, but basic, shed designed. We then worked on designing our own garden shed. It would be used to store tools, compost, seeds etc…
The best design would get a prize and maybe get built! We had limited time so we had to work fast.
Well, yesterday we worked on cleaning up the courtyard. Yesterday for another hour, we were up-rooting trees and took out bushes.

Garlic- sow
Grow garlic, broad beans, artichokes, leeks, lettuces, onions, peas, radishes, rhubarb, salad leaves, spinach, shallots & turnips.
we fixed up the court yard by digging out the dead trees and scooping out the moss from the cracks in the ground. we used forks, spades, shovels, clippers a saw and an axe.
The second things we planted were broad beans, we planted about 30 broad beans, everybody planted at least 2 each.
The first things we planted were Heebies, we planted around 20 Heebies along one side of our school.
First we talked about the john Muir Award, about what it is and how we go about it. We researched on what plants to buy, designed our raised beds and looked at what other schools have done. Once we had done all of our research we dug holes in the ground around our school, to plant Heebies. After we dug the holes we made raised beds placed them outside and filled them with soil and cow muck.
